Prasada Construction Begins with Unprecedented Mass Grading

Home builder Toll Brothers’ plan to build 2,200 homes in Surprise, Arizona, is well under way. Located in an expansive mixed-use development just west of the Loop 303 and south of Cactus Road, the 780-acre Prasada project will be built over 10 phases. The early phases consist of 463 lots, an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, recreation center, club house, model home sales office and two entrances.

Work began in earnest in September, with a massive grading of the entire site. Grading is an essential first step in preparing land for development. Without a proper, solid foundation, no project will successfully weather time or the elements.

Thirty-four scrapers are moving approximately 30,000 yards of dirt each day, in an operation that’s expected to last from three to four months. “It’s the biggest fleet of earthmoving equipment I have ever seen,” said EPS Group Senior Project Manager Richard Hoppe. Hoppe has been working closely with Toll Brothers since January 2017 in designing this latest project. “I’m excited to see it finally taking shape.”

EPS Group is providing services that take the project from an approved planned area development (PAD), through preliminary plat to master grading plans. This includes aerial topographic mapping, survey, and reports for drainage and sewer & water. The project is expected to continue over the next several years.
