Aerial image acquisition from both a vertical and oblique perspective provides a wealth of vital information. At the forefront of innovative technology, EPS offers a wealth of experience in photogrammetry and is equipped to provide a full range of tailored services to accurately measure spatial features from aerial photography and remotely sensed data. Our clients’ profit from our expertise in all aspects of photogrammetry including planimetric and topographic mapping, aerotriangulation, and Digital Terrain Modeling (DTM). We also generate automated 3D point clouds and DTM’s from the imagery by utilizing contemporary photogrammetric procedures. All of our photogrammetric developments are overseen by our in-house ASPRS certified photogrammetrists.
Orthophotography is a digital image that is geometrically corrected (“orthorectified”) to Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and point clouds derived typically from photogrammetric processes or LiDAR sensors. This method will effectively correct the image distortion and place each pixel in its true horizontal position. EPS operates the state-of-the-art Trimble Inpho Photogrammetric Suite in order to produce an extremely accurate image that is geo-referenced and will work seamlessly within any CAD environment.
3D Pixel Extraction
EPS is providing an exciting new product based on an old auto-correlation technique. Through decades of innovation and the vast improvements of hardware and software capabilities, we now have the ability to accurately extract 3D information from stereo imagery with the same level of accuracy as traditional photogrammetric methods, but in a fraction of the time. Point clouds can now be extracted from imagery by giving a horizontal and vertical value to every pixel which produces an extremely dense and accurate data set. Even better this point cloud holds the true RGB value for every point as opposed to the false intensity value given by the similar LiDAR point cloud. This makes our 3D pixel extraction product act like a high-resolution orthophotograph with the added punch of a 3D surface and eliminates the need for multiple flight missions when additional imagery is required for a project. Increasing the accuracy, and saving time and money makes this a valuable alternative for your projects.
LiDAR (Light Detecting and Ranging)
LiDAR technology is used to gather high-density terrain information from an aerial platform which can be a great option for large projects with dense ground cover. LiDAR data often contains multiple returns for each laser pulse, some on the surface of the ground, and others on virtually any object the laser pulse comes in contact with. In order to designate which points have actually come in contact with the ground, the data must undergo filtering and classification. Without the guidance of photogrammetric techniques, LiDAR points themselves do not offer an idyllic representation of the terrain. Automated filtering routinely misclassifies points as “bare earth”. For this reason, EPS goes beyond industry practices and incorporates photogrammetric analysis to accurately verify the classification of each point to ensure accurate results.
