The Town of Wickenburg, Arizona experienced significant maintenance issues at an existing sewer lift station due to flushable wipes. After a significant effort to educate the citizens to no avail, EPS Group was contracted to provide a new design to help with the problem. The team conducted a study to attempt to redesign upstream and downstream gravity systems to eliminate the lift station.
Due to existing system design and topography, this was not possible. They selected a new chopper pump and installed a four-inch force main to minimize the effect of the flushable wipes in the sewage stream. In addition to pre-design and design services, EPS Group also completed bid services and post-design services, including assisting the Town with bidding, reviewed bids, and recommendation of award. Post-design services included construction administration and processing the project through Maricopa County Environmental Services Department for the approval of construction.
